Color & Atmosphere

WE ARE MODIFYING THIS WORKSHOP TO FIT AN ONLINE FORMAT. DEMO VIDEOS AND CLASS PARTICIPATION IN ZOOM MEETING SESSIONS WILL MAKE THIS WORKSHOP FUN, INFORMAL AND A GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE.

This workshop will be presented in a Zoom meeting format. Handouts are given to each student as Word Document files ahead of class. Video demos are linked from David’s YouTube channel and can be accessed by students beyond the dates of the two day workshop. Some material for this Zoom workshop, may be presented as live demo segments, from our painting studio.

Learn to paint three dimensionally with a convincing sense of form and how to change the temperature of any color. Through a series of video demo’s and exercises you will learn how to paint the effect of warm light and cool shadows typical of a sunny day, as well as how to paint the cool light and warm shadows of an overcast day. You will learn how to make parts of your paintings come forward and other parts recede truthfully. With a thorough understanding of color temperature, you will be able to take advantage of foreground, middle ground and background concepts, as well as the use of aerial perspective to show compelling depth and atmosphere in your paintings. All concepts are explained and demonstrated in detail.

Location: We will have Zoom meetings at various intervals each day and individual painting time in your own studio.

Time: 10:00 - 4:00 each day.
